Is Minecraft a Good Game?

Do you think Minecraft is a good game? Well, let me tell you my opinion. Of course everyone has their own opinions and this is mine. So, in my opinion Minecraft is a good game, and very good at that. You may be thinking, “Minecraft wont help with education and things like that!” Well, that’s where you are wrong. Minecraft is good for education and it’s fun. Although it is expensive, $26.95 on computer and $6.99 on mobile to be precise, it is most definitely worth it. Let me give you a few reasons why.

To start, Minecraft has an education edition which can help with learning. In this education edition you work with the periodic table and you can create different gasses and items, like balloons. This is great when learning about the periodic table because you could explore what things you could create with it. Although this is the only educational feature, it still covers some really important things.

Some of the things Minecraft Education Edition adds

Minecraft is also fun in many ways. You can build whatever you think of, explore the world, mine for ores, and play with friends. Minecraft is also available on basically any device: Xbox, PC, iPhone, iPad – you name it, they have it! It’s also a good game because there really isn’t anything controversial about it. Nothing political or anything like that. It gives you creative freedom and you will get addicted once you play it, trust me.

A giant Minecraft city

I’ve given you some facts about why Minecraft is a good game so now I will tell you about my opinion. So the blocky game, Minecraft – wait, did I mention it’s all blocks? Well, I just did. It’s all squares and that makes it unique from other games. That also might be what got me addicted. In the game, I built an entire city and did not get bored at all while making it. That just tells you how fun it is. Now, a lot of people don’t really like Minecraft because it’s all squares, but to me, that’s not a problem at all. If it were to be “normal,” meaning not all squares, it would just make it like any other game. That’s why I feel Minecraft is perfect as it is, unique and fun.

Another thing I like about Minecraft is that there isn’t a specific way to play it nor is there a wrong way to play it. Minecraft also has quite frequent updates so you just can’t get bored of it because they keep adding new things. I have been playing for seven years and I haven’t gotten bored. In fact, it was the first thing I got when I got my first phone. There are also adults that play Minecraft and they make videos of it and are super successful.

Now, if you still don’t believe me I actually interviewed someone.

Who are you? What can you tell me about your relation with the game?

Fiore, 12 years old. Playing the game for 3 years.

What do you think about Minecraft?

It is fun and you are able to just put your imagination in the blocky game.

What are some things you would change? What would you remove?

People say “Make the game less blocky” but that’s the whole point of the game. It’s already a really perfect game and if we were to change anything for the better it wouldn’t really be Minecraft anymore it would be more of a normal video game.

What is your favorite thing? What do you like?

Being able to do whatever you want, no one is going to tell you what to do. And having whatever you do at your own imagination. As long as you have whatever you need then you are good to go.

Minecraft is a very diverse game, it’s constantly changing with updates and moderations. Each update brings a new level to the game and there has been a lot of dislikes and even more mixed emotions.

How do you feel the updates have changed the game? For the better or for worse?

The updates make the game more fun and you’re not constantly judged by scores. Minecraft just lets you do whatever you want and the updates add levels onto that.

What do you feel when a new update is announced? Have you ever disagreed with someone over what should change?

The immediate feeling I get is, They’re going to mess this up, they are going to ruin the game. Then you start to look at what they are doing in the update and you are like HOLEY MOLEY THIS IS AMAZING!

Minecraft is a game in which one can create anything and there are no real rules.

Everyone has a different opinion on how the game should be played. What’s yours?

I feel like the game has a lot of layers and mine is: Do whatever you want. 50-70% of my projects have never left the pages of my notebook, and most of the ones I do start I never finish. There’s just so much possibility, you can look at a new block and have 100 new ideas about what to do.

What are some ways that you think the game should not be played?

Although it’s hard to explain there are a few things that I think are not really worth it. People think you have to beat the game but there just isn’t a way to. My advice is: Don’t follow the rules. Don’t do what people tell you to do

The Minecraft community is huge, and it’s a very diverse game, but there has been some scale on the types of players that are valued more highly because of the level in which they play. They see the game as their life.

What are some people you admire because of the way they evaluate the game and structure their time playing?

I mostly admire Mumbo Jumbo and Grian. They play the game how one is “supposed to” but they leave it to their imagination. And they have the resources and time to do so.

Do you play like that? If not, then how do you play?

No, I start a project and then I’m short on materials and say “this is not going to go well” and then I leave it…

Is there a reason you play like that, or is it just the way you were introduced to the game?

I think it’s definitely the way I was introduced to the game. My friend introduced me to it and she said, “It’s this great game, you can do whatever you want!” Then the first house I ever built was at your house. I prided myself on it; it had many rooms and I felt it was a luxurious palace.

Why do you play Minecraft?

It’s my way to let go and to loosen up from the day. Leave this worrying world and step into a rather blocky one. I look at what’s happening around me and I don’t wanna be here so I leave and play in this new world.

Now you have two opinions on why Minecraft is in fact a good game. I have to ask… Have you downloaded it yet?
